IHK Energy Scouts at AL-KO Vehicle Technology
The apprentices at AL-KO Vehicle Technology in Kötz and Ettenbeuren have been trained as ‘Energy Scouts’ with the help of a program run by the Swabian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in 2024. The additional qualification aims to raise the trainee’s awareness of energy efficiency and sustainability.
The Swabian Chamber of Industry and Commerce has been offering this additional training for apprentices for several years now. In a three-day workshop, the IHK Energy Scouts learn the tools to identify energy waste and potential savings in their training company.
The trainees received training on the topics of energy efficiency, renewable energies, climate protection and sustainable development. The project work then began with the aim of better identifying energy-saving opportunities in the company and developing concrete proposals.
In their final presentation, the trainees set out the results of their first energy check. For example, they dealt with window film insulation for both heat and cold as well as the Kleinkötz plant’s current water consumption. The focus was on proposals and concepts for improved waste separation and waste prevention. Specifically, they considered ways to recycle pallets. The result: a win-win-win situation for climate protection, the trainees and the company.
